Message of the Month – July

As we approach the end of the academic year I am sure you are all ready for a rest after a turbulent and unsettling few weeks.

We know that LAs are making massive cuts and that some of you are being prepared for possible redundancies. We appreciate that this level of uncertainty is causing concern and we hope it helps to know that we are working hard to persuade the Department and ministers that PfS centres have a key role to play in supporting the coalition government’s policies. We know that many of you are already seeking to develop your programmes to meet the new coalition government priorities as well as the needs of your partner schools.

The announcement about future funding is expected early in the autumn term. In the meantime, we know that many of you are already working to develop sustainable models. You have fantastic facilities and high quality programmes which schools cannot match. Many of you already have very successful daytime programmes that schools buy into. The need for the kind of intervention your centres offer is going to increase in the future, whatever happens to PfS funding. You need to be prepared to respond and we look forward to helping you to share your ideas for sustainability in the autumn workshops we will be announcing soon.

This quote serves as a reminder that challenges build our resilience.

‘Mountain tops inspire leaders and valleys mature them.’ T Phillips Everson

Remember to keep focused on the mountain top even when it is difficult to see beyond the challenges you currently face.

In the meantime, I hope that you will be able to take some time away from work over the next few weeks and I wish you all a restful holiday.

Very best wishes
Marian
